Song Evaluation (November, 2008): STRONGER THAN EVER

EVALUATOR COMMENTS
OVERVIEW: Hello Joey. Thank you for submitting your song to NSAI for evaluation.

FORM/STRUCTURE: Good Structure.

HOOK/IDEA: Good strong Christian hook.

LYRIC: The lyric content is strong for the Contemporary Christian market. It has a very "sing a long" chorus which stays in the mind of the listener.
This is very good.

MELODY/METER: I like both the meter and melody.

COMMERCIAL VIABILITY: I feel this song fits the Contemporary Christian market very well and as such, I will be happy to pass this song along for further review at the NSAI Songwriter Evaluation Luncheon.

CLOSING COMMENTS: Joey, good job. In the current youth oriented market for Christian music, your song would fit very well.

EVALUATOR CONCLUSION (YES OR NO RESPONSE)

I AM RECOMMENDING THIS SONG TO THE EVALUATOR LUNCHEON: Yes

Song Evaluation (July, 2008): WOULD YOU STAND UP FOR JESUS

EVALUATOR COMMENTS
OVERVIEW:I really like this song! Great energy. It was hooky - I wanted to sing along. And that is what we're going for as songwriters, isn't it? This song is a great way to reach out and speak to people and invite them to participate.

FORM/STRUCTURE:I liked how you went a little outside of the box by starting with the chorus. I don't always advise that - but this is an instance where it really worked. High energy from the get go.

HOOK/IDEA:I have heard this idea used many times before. BUT, the reason this song is effective is that you made it interesting, engaging.

LYRIC:In Christian songwriting, it is so easy to get preachy or use "Christianese". You have avoided this very well. The lyrics are real, compelling and yet non-threatening.

MELODY/METER:Really hooky melody. Like I said, I wanted to sing along, tap my foot, maybe even dance!

COMMERCIAL VIABILITY:Highly commercial. Very much what is going on in Christian music today. I could hear an artist performing it, I could hear it being sung at youth camps and even in some churches.

CLOSING COMMENTS:Keep up the good work. You are talented and gifted and very "current".

EVALUATOR CONCLUSION (YES OR NO RESPONSE)

I AM RECOMMENDING THIS SONG TO THE EVALUATOR LUNCHEON: Yes
